ABOUT ME

I'm a writer. It is the one thing I've done consistently throughout my life, since I've been able to hold a pen.   It really is therapy for me, not just a coping skill.  I journal to get my problems out of my head, but I write stories to deal with the emotional side of things.  I write fiction because it allows me that emotional expression in a way that doesn't have to be real.

Some of my books are a sort of autobiography for me. No, they aren't things that have happened in my life, but the emotions are one's that I experience in extreme cases.  I write the stories to bring rationalization to the emotions.

You see, I'm bipolar.  Sure, surprise surprise, I've got boobs and a vagina.  We are all a little bipolar from time to time, to hear some people tell it. I'm no exception to that, but at times, it goes to extremes and I'm helpless to stop it.  It wreaks havoc on my ability to function normally,  has caused me to take some extreme actions, and can make me a handful to live with.

With some digging, learning about my disorder, research, and monitoring my symptoms pretty closely, I've been able to work through a lot of issues, struggle less and function more, but it takes a lot of extra work, especially on the bad days.  I took up writing them down when they are at their worst, and then make up stories to legitimize them.  Believe it or not, it helps.  I'm nearly 2 years medication free and I haven't had an extreme day in a very long time.

I'm a mother of three adult children that I gave birth to, but I have adopted many more over the years that I still very much consider my own. I have a lot more time on my hands now that they are out on their own, and the freedom, with their support and encouragement, to write to my heart's content.. They have seen me struggle, and the difference it has made, and now they get to watch me live my dream and see that it is possible, even in my case.

I don't just write, but through writing, I'm been able to expand my horizons and do things other than write, with fervor, gusto, and happiness.  I have my moments, but they are moments.  I get out and do things, I meet and talk with new people.

I am an active member of The Society for Creative Anachronism. When I am not writing, I'm dressed in armor or garb and introducing new people to the SCA. I love the organization and everything it stands for.  If you have ever been to a Ren Faire and thought to yourself, "it would be really cool to do that stuff" shoot me an email. I can help you find your kingdom and do just that.
