A Space Opera Anthology

I can't begin to tell you how excited I am to get to be a part of this project. I've never written a space opera before, but I'm head long into a thriller short story that takes place in space.
There are 42 people aboard the USS Dry Bird. None of them want to be here. The furthest journey into space in history should be exciting, but there is apprehension. Aliens have not proven to be the kindest creatures and every known species has been deemed hostile.
Their mission to greet an alien species turns deadly when people start dropping like flies for an unknown reason. Are the aliens really the hostile ones?
